Last post off 2016

This is My final blog post this year. On Friday the 9th of December we went on a hike and built and sailed rafts. It was super fun I loved taking the raft out on the water. Here is a photo of are raft. See you next year and leave a comment.

Hi guys this is my Prototec graph it is a really cool site were you can do stages 2 to 8. The advantages of Prototec is that you can do it for a math activity, you can do it at home and at school. It has different stages so everyone is working at where they need to be at.

I have been working at stage 7. It was out of 40. I have been slowly getting better and better but I struggle with fractions and percentages. Hope you try it out for yoursel!

Along with working on our speeches we have been working on digi awards. The theme this year was be the change my. Me and my group made a video we used minecraft to make everything. We made the video about a man who lived in a shack and needs a proper home then a wealthy man takes him in. And gives him food and water. Hi  guys! For most of the term we have been learning to write quality speeches. I made mine about smoking and how it affects those who smoke. We needed it to be between 2 minutes 30 to 3 minutes with an interesting topic.I was focusing on speaking clearly and at an appropriate pace. One day I was walking down the street when the cops pulled up and a arrested me.when I was in the car I asked what were the charges they said robing a store I said I did not do it but they did not believe me. when we got to prison they throw me in a cell and said have fun. when I turned around I saw my cell it had no room it was cooled and there was a leaky pipe and the toilet looked really bad then a police officer said sorry we found the right guy you can go so i booked it

Rock Climbing!

Hi guys this is my rock climbing recount hope you enjoy. I was focusing on using different starters for my sentences to make my writing more interesting.

On Monday the 20th of June Rimu class Year 7 and 8s went Rock Climbing for our William Pike Challenge. In the Port Hills we took cars up to the top of Summit Road. It was cloudy at the start, windy and cold. We could see the city below us and I thought it was pretty.

At the start I was terrified because I had a fear of heights and I was nervous about doing it. When we got there we met two instructors Steve and Josh - they were pretty cool. They gave us a helmet and a harness and they also told us about pride and resilience. They were the two values we were concentrating on today. This is important in rock climbing because you have to get out of your comfort zone and then you feel proud of yourself for doing that.

Next they told us to follow them to the climbing area. We went down a pretty nice trail but It had a lot of slippery rocks and it was very hard at some stages. When I looked out the view was beautiful mountains and the city below.

I think  it was pretty cool I  loved doing the abseiling but I was pretty  nervous at first. But as I went down it was super fun and looking out the view was even better than it was when I was walking. When I made it down I took the carabiners off that helped me down. Eventually we got I back, I had something to eat then I climbed the first wall. I stuck with that one because I was still nervous but it was really fun.

I loved the experience of rock climbing because I enjoyed the risk and it helped me conquer my fear of heights.

100wc

 Hi guys here is another 100wc hope you injoy. It was a normal day me and my friends ian jacob and kahu were playing minecraft. Then my phone went off said laser tag  was a 2 dollars a person. I asked my friends if they wanted to go but as I was saying it my mum started swept the floor. And the broom was loud and they did not hear me. So I went to sat it again but then a airplane went past. And they didn't hear me so I went  to say it again but my sister started playing her yellow violin and but they heard me   and said na so we played some more I went to grab a chip but they had bean eaten by ian then we decided to go to the shop and buy some more food.

wigram air force museum

On the 13th of june my class rimu went to the wigram air force museum. It was amazing I loved seeing all the planes and learning new thing about ww1 and ww2.  my favorite part was going in the pacific simulator it was super fun and I had a great  time and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

I recommend going there it is free of charge unless you want to take the tour and go into the pacific simulator which costs 5 dollars. But it is well worth I think if you like plans you should. and  also it would be an amazing  school trip. I’m zach Leave a comment if you enjoy  .

The Blue Flame

One day when I was watching youtube an ad came up it was about this blue flame it looked really cool it said that it was coming  to christchurch i was so exited. I asked mum if I could go she said yes I invited two of friend they were exited to . we went down to the hornby mall were we saw it the blue flame it was beautiful as blue as the ocean and it looked like it was dancing there was a sign saying can you put it out I took a big breath then  the flame flickered and went out.

One night in the middle of the winter I woke up because I had a nightmare. When I went to lay down and go back to sleep I herd thunder. I went down the hall in my power ranger pyjamas I saw an orange light coming from the kitchen I ran and hid behind the couch but it was just the digital clock on the oven. But then it went dead silent all I could hear was the leaky pipe dripping water It reminded me of when I swam for the first time then I woke up It was a dream

Das Piano

The last two weeks our reading group was reading a story from WWI called 'Das Piano' which means 'The Piano'. It is a German title. We were learning to describe a character from an alternative point of view and understand how people and communities behaved in times of conflict.

Once every week my class has to write  a story but  not just any story we have to write 100 words it is very fun and we have a  prompt that we have to write about it could be a picture or a word I hope you like it.

One day when I was walking home from school I saw a spooky house. I though don’t go in but I did I got to the door and opened it there was a big cccrc when I opened the door. it was very dark I was lucky I had my phone so I turned on the phones flash life the first thing I saw was stairway. It looked very new but the rest of the house looked like trash The stairway had white carpet and a gold handrail on both sides I walked up and saw a giant unicorn.

In the holidays I completed 2 Lego games in 1 day by playing all night long. It was so much fun I was up all night and I was so sleepy the next day. The games were Lego movie and Lego marvel super heroes. I had a pie for a snack half way through the day. Then in the night I had a mint milo and a row  of crackers.  At 1:30 am I finished the last level I was super tired I almost feel asleep before I saved  the game. But I made just in time. then I took a sleep till 9:00 am in the morning. then I did some free play on both games so do you think my story is true or false comment what you think  down below.

My wonder essay

Last week our writing was to make a short essay on what explaining what point of view R.J palacio used when he wright ‘wonder’ we. we also had to to find an example from the text’.We also had to find quotes to back up are  theory. It had to have a Introduction  2 ti 3 examples  paragraphs and a conclusion. I find wonder very cool i can not wait to find out what happens   

‘Wonder’ is a story about a boy who feels ordinary on the inside, but he is always reminded of how different he is by how people respond when they see him. This is R.J Palacio’s first novel and it is written

August may be different but he does not acked different

R.J palacio used 1st person to make wonder because in chapter one he said I am like a regular 10 year old boy  I have ride my bike I eat ice cream I play ball and I have an xbox .

In chapter 2 he uses first person again because he used  I and me here is an example.  I was very nervous so I hid behind Mum  and waited and walked with her.

In my conclusion 'wonder' is written in 1st person because he uses I and me.
